Dreamland

I had a recurring dream when I was a kid.

It was night. I was totally alone in a small hilltop village square, cobblestones beneath my feet. The street lamps were bright and the storefronts were lit up. In the center of the square stood a small kiosk with a clock. It was still and quiet save the soft ethereal music or perhaps wind chimes echoing in the clean crisp night air. As I looked to off to my right, I could see below the twinkling lights of a large city stretching out to meet the star-filled sky at the horizon.

Just a few days ago while out shooting, I had an epiphany of sorts. Could it be the way I've approached the shooting and processing of my images, I've been striving to recreate the whimsical mood and atmospheric qualities of what I dreamt so many years ago? All I can say for certain is I'm drawn to images, places, sounds, and scents that unlock the vault in my mind that holds that fantasy world. And until that night I lay my head on my pillow and visit that magical place once again, I will endeavor to put a little bit of magic, whimsy, mystery, emotion, atmosphere, and mood into every photograph I create.
